He had a great memory, and no one could beat him at trivia.

He loved exploring and going “for a drive” on the weekends. His smile was welcoming, and you could not find him without a cough drop or a toothpick. Walter loved food - almost every day he would ask Cathy what she was making for dinner. He and Cathy dedicated a lot of time packaging up and dropping off his sales at the local post office. He eventually turned his “hobby” into a small and successful online book business. He could walk into any bookstore and find the rarest of books. Walter loved his children and encouraged them to study and work hard. They granted him the unofficial title, “Mayor of Pasadena.” He enjoyed traveling, but equally loved spending time at his home of 33 years in Brooklyn Park, Minn. He especially loved Pasadena, Calif., and was able to spend time with Nicole and Sonny. In his later years, he worked as a consultant, which allowed him to travel for work to many different areas of the country. He specialized in health care information systems and moved his family to Maryland in 1986 and then Minnesota in 1988. He shifted gears to another type of “language” and studied computer programming.
